NIKKI SHELDON
Artist Profile
I was born in Long Beach, California in August of '85 but am currently residing in Seattle, Washington. Growing up in Southern California, I played softball and out of high school
accepted a scholarship to play as the UC Davis Aggies 3rd baseman in
2003. I received a B.A. in Psychology/Human Development in the winter of
2007 and since I've graduated have dedicated myself to working with SED (severely emotional disturbed) teenagers, at-risk youth, and the foster youth populations.
While in Northern California I worked at the City of Davis Teen Center, the Sacramento Children's Home, and EMQ FamiliesFirst. My work and primary purpose involves acting as the child's "therapeutic parent" as well as their counselor, with the ultimate goal being to identify, design appropriate interventions, and combat behaviors keeping the child from permanent placement; each child having a specialized treatment plan. My work with at-risk and foster youth means EVERYTHING to me, and I love each and every one of them.
I am currently working independently as a Behavioral Interventionist for special needs children in the greater Puget Sound Region, painting as much as possible, giving softball instruction, and enjoying the Emerald City and all it's gems.
Thanks a ton and take it easy,
Nikki Sheldon
